CLAY WORKSHOPS
INSPIRATION IN THE MAKING
Hyangjong Oh
Hyangjong Oh is a South Korean ceramic artist whose profound mastery of clay has been cultivated over more than 40 years. Recognized as one of the world’s foremost Onggi masters, Oh seamlessly blends traditional Korean ceramic techniques with contemporary explorations that often extend beyond form to include installation and performance. His practice is rooted in a meditative approach, whether shaping traditional moon jars or designing large-scale works.

HyangJong is immersed in his craft at a pottery-making factory in Mokpo, Korea. Additionally, he runs a pottery workshop in Jeju City, where he teaches Onggi-making techniques, a hallmark of Korean traditional ceramics, to enthusiasts from all corners of the world.

Today, at his studio on Jeju Island, Oh is dedicated to sharing the beauty of Korean pottery especially the art of Onggi with students from around the world.
