
BEGINNERS COURSE
LEARN WITH CONFIDENCE

The beginners four week ceramic course will teach you the basics of the ceramics studio, with our experienced teachers you will gain the confidence to consider yourself a potter.
DISCOVER
WEEK 1
After a health and safety briefing you will be shown how the studio works, clay preparation and a demonstration of basic wheel techniques.
Then it's over to you start making your first shapes.
WEEK 2
MAKE
Week 2 is all about making on the wheel, you will have your own dedicated equipment to maximise your making time.
At the end of this session you will have at least two items for you to develop further.
DECORATE
WEEK 3
Once your items are 'leather hard' you will be able to add decoration and refine them ready for the first firing.
WEEK 4
GLAZE
In the last week you will be shown the different techniques of glazing and try it out for yourself. Your final works will be fired.

PAUL WHEELER
HEAD TECHNICIAN AND TEACHER at CLAY
CLAY is proud to welcome Paul to the team, you may know Paul from his appearance on the BBC's 'The Great Pottery Throw Down' where he acted as the pottery consultant and technician, he is also the Tutor Technician to BA and MA students at UCA.
Paul will be overseeing all aspects of the studio, making sure everything is up to scratch and providing be best possible learning environment.
