IMPROVERS COURSE

DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS

You don't need to be a pro to join these sessions -  but it's best if you have had a taste and are keen to learn more. The eight week course will develop your knowledge and hands on skills. Our experienced teachers will guide you to realise your making potential.

4 WEEKS OF WHEEL SKILLS 

Building on basic skills you will learn and develop core skills of working with clay and throwing.

Each week we will learn key skill such as wedging and turning to develop your own project.

 

We often have group projects and build challenges which will result in work you can refine with hand building and glazing.

2 WEEKS OF
HAND BUILDING
SKILLS

Hand building is a fantastic way of working with clay and unlocks a new world of possibilities.

 

 We will cover core areas such as joining forms together and making handles.

For many this is the favoured way to build and sculpt with clay

2 WEEKS OF GLAZE
SKILLS 

As you my now know Glazing is more complex than you might have first thought - its a science.

you will learn our glaze characteristics and different application techniques and apply them to your made pieces.

What to expect:

The improvers course does NOT include clay - you can purchase clay and additional tools in the ground floor Supply Store. There are basic tools in the studio which you are free to use. 

You are advised to bring your own apron but we will have some on offer if you forget. Clay can dry your hands so do bring some hand moisturiser with you if you can.

Before you start a class with CLAY please look through our health and safety advisories.

Cancellations and rescheduled classes:

We have a minimum of 6 students in a class, in the unlikely event your class has fewer than 6 students we may need to reschedule the class for a later date. we will give you 5 days notice and offer you a refund if we cannot find a new time that suits you.

If you need to cancel or reschedule a class please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your place to somebody else. Although we will try and work with you we cannot offer refunds up to 72 hours before your booking.
