SUMMER WOOD FIRING THIS SUMMER
Oxford University Kilns

Following Ekta’s recent talk at the CLAY SOCIAL, we hope you’re feeling inspired by the world of wood firing and that you’re as excited as we are for the chance to experience it together as a community later this summer.
For those who couldn’t attend the talk, we’re thrilled to announce we are planning a wood firing event at the Oxford University kilns exclusively for members.
The event will take place from Thursday 17th July - Thursday 24th July at Oxford Kilns, Wytham, Oxford OX2 8QQ, UK

This is an incredible opportunity to fire your own work in an Anagama-style wood kiln under the expert guidance of Dr. Robin Wilson and Ekta Bagri.
These traditional Anagama kilns, located in the beautiful Wytham Woods, were built with the expertise of Japanese potters in collaboration with Dr. Robin Wilson. The name "Anagama" translates to "cave," reflecting the kiln’s ancient design based on archaeological findings. This method creates stunning, one-of-a-kind effects, naturally glazing your pots with atmospheric ash.
We’re offering two levels of experience during the week:

-
Fast Firing: For those unable to commit to the full week, a 2-3 day firing in a smaller wood kiln will be available.
-
Full Experience: The Anagama kiln firing will take 5-6 days.
