About the Event

Established in 1873 by local potter Absalom Harris, The Farnham Pottery operated for over 130 years and was run by five successive generations of the Harris family as a renowned production pottery. Many well-known local potters learnt their craft at the Pottery and today it’s a carefully preserved example of a Victorian country pottery with a host of charming architectural features. The potters of the day delighted in demonstrating their skills in making ornate chimney pots, a massive catalogue of garden and domestic terracotta as well as the famous owl jug.

Philip Harris is joined by current Owner Guy Hains to bring to life the historic buildings with an exclusive view into its history and the traditional production methods employed over the years and bringing us up to date with current activities. The tour lasts an hour, donations welcome.
