About the Event
Dylan Bowen is a third-generation potter renowned for his loosely thrown, slip-decorated earthenware, which bridges traditional English slipware and contemporary ceramics. Working with both wheel-thrown and hand-built forms, Dylan pours, trails, and brushes liquid clay slip onto his pieces, capturing a sense of movement, spontaneity, and gestural mark-making in every work.
Clay is very much in Dylan’s blood. Having trained at Shebbear Pottery in North Devon, working closely with his father, Clive Bowen, Dylan went on to study at Camberwell School of Art. He now works from his studio just outside Oxford, which he shares with fellow ceramicist Jane Bowen. His work is inspired by music, abstract expressionism, and the physical dialogue between control and chance within the making process.
